Hello boys and girls! We are in for an adventure this year. I am very interested to learn what interests each and every one of you and I'm sure you'd like to know a little something about me.
Once upon a time there was a small happy child named Kathy. She lived with her parents in New Jersey and enjoyed all of the attention lavished upon her by her adoring parents. before long, Kathy realized the days of being number 1 were over! Can you imagine having to compete with three other siblings for your parents attention? Well perhaps you can relate! Being the eldest, Kathy was always responsible for her little sister and two wild baby brothers. She liked to play school and pretend to be their teacher.
Her mother had been a 2nd grade teacher and saved tons of dittoes (that's the same thing as copiers only the look purplish and smell good). Her mother always said she should grow up and become a teacher. As she grew and the family moved about six different times and always to new schools and new friends, Kathy started getting other ideas about what to do when she grew up. In fact, the decided to become a business person like her father. It was an exciting career because there was lots of travel.
She even met her husband George and they lived in England for a year and then California, Florida,Tennessee, Illinois, New Jersey and then finally landed in the Atlanta area with two children of their own and decided to stay put. They even got a dog, named Missy who is a Cairn Terrier. Kathy, now Ms. Shields to you, became interested in the school system as most parents do when their children are attending school. She loved working with students and watching them brim with excitement learning new skills and solving problems. She took a job the year Creek View opened as a paraprofessional and the was hired as a teacher the following year. She completed her Masters degree in Teaching and has been a teacher at Creek View ever since. She has a rabbit named Sparkles and a Millipede named Cucumber.

Now what do you think her mother says about this? You probably guessed, she said, "I always knew you would become a teacher!" Now Ms. Shields secretly thinks her own daughter would make an amazing teacher, but worries that if she even hints at the idea, it will take her 20 years to find out what she was meant to do! Shhh, if you meet Madi, please don't tell her! Isn't it funny how long it can take to realize that our parents really do know what's best?
