How to write and perform a play in under 10 days with your 3rd grade class.

This is a perfect end of year project!

  2. list the parts
  3. add parts and scenes to get everyone involved
  4. offer behind the scenes helpers to two people
  5. discuss the scenes, characters and settings 
  6. group students according to scene 
  7. ask them to write their own lines
    1. Scene 1 - Early Childhood,
    2. Scene 2 - School, magic finger sean 2 summary ,Summery About Sence 2
    3. Scene 3 - Hunter Family, Scene 3 and 4 For play may 2011,
    4. Scene 4 - Duck Family, Scene 3 and 4
    5. Scene 5 - Conclusion, reprise,magic finger scene summary 5
  8. work on the set design together by getting ideas from various students
  9. create the set
  10. list all props and material needed by group
  11. assign a pair to work on creating invitations
  12. add a research component
  13. students will be able to add a line to incorporate an interesting related fact (easy if about animals!)
  14. assign a group to the library to do research, get 3 facts on selected topic
  15. meanwhile meet with scene 1
  16. line them up in chairs according to speaking order
  17. have them read through, make changes, suggestions
  18. rotate and spend 15 min with each group
  19. meet again the next day to finish meeting with 4th group and to block their movements using a camera as documention.
  20. sit in a large circle and practice the flow of the whole play
  21. repeat daily. 
  22. hang up the set
  23. let behind the scenes know what to do.
  24. rehearse action for 3 days
  25. dress rehearsal Monday 2 performances Monday OH NO! 9:00 and 1:30.
  26. first performance Tuesday AM - youngest audience
  27. second performance/same day, PM - parents and peers
